Smoke Free in September 2016
“Healthy trucker = happy trucker = safe trucker”
Recently XTL Transport adopted a smoke-free policy on all of its facilities both inside and outside. A decision that will be effective September 5th and which was taken to ensure a healthy environment for employees, customers and visitors.
This ban affects all tobacco products including electronic cigarettes and “any other device of this nature that is brought to the mouth to inhale any substance containing or not nicotine, including their components and accessories” can be read in the policy.
It will be applied as much in buildings (inside and outside), parking lots, trucks, trailers and mobile units.
The new smoke-free policy aims, among others, at:
- Observing the “law on the fight against smoking” in all XTL Transport facilities and properties,
- Educating workplace users on a healthy lifestyle,
- Ensuring a safe environment for all workplace users,
- Limiting exposure of employees, customers and visitors to secondhand smoke,
- Promoting a balance between work and personal life,
The new measure will also provide information and support for an employee, for example, who would like to get help to stop smoking. The company has also ensured that collective insurance can cover the nicotine replacement therapy products.
This decision has long been thought through by XTL Transport sensitive to the health and productivity of its office employees and drivers. The company is aware that healthy employees are happier and more productive.
A health program will also be launched soon within the company to boost employee’s health and encourage them to be active. The “Step Challenge” will ask participants to do 5,000 steps a day and it will begin this summer.
The objectives of this challenge is to allow participants to be in better health, increase energy, have better morale and encourage teamwork.
